Tom and I lived in New York for more than twenty years. We watched the city restore itself through the 90s, we were there during the attacks of 9/11, and we watched over the past seven years as a dangerously totalitarian ideology nearly destroyed the country and undermined global economic stability.
Last night, we wept openly as we watched Barrack Obama win the Presidency, sitting side by side together in front of the TV.
For better or worse, America remains the one indispensable nation. In concert with that country, the world can accomplish anything. Without them, the world’s hopes are thwarted.
It is time for all nations, all levels of government and all parties to come together in order to address the serious global challenges affecting everyone. All of my NPA colleagues and I are ready to roll up our sleeves and do our part!
